Mission Statement
The City Secretary proudly serves the City Council, the City Staff and the public in a manner that values honesty, integrity and trust.
 
The City Secretary fulfills the duties and responsibilities of this office in accordance with the City Charter and State law.  The City of Leander is a Home Rule Municipality and operates under a City Charter.
 
Records Management
Serves as Records Management Officer for the City and is in charge of releasing information to the public in accordance with the Texas Open Records Act. Information from the City may be obtained by filling out the Open Records Release (ORR Form) and turning it in to the City Secretary's office.  This can be done by e-mail, fax or in person.
 
Public Notices
All Agendas and Minutes for the City Council Meetings are prepared by the City Secretary. The appointments for all Boards and Commissions and coordination of loyalty oaths as well as attendance records are maintained through this office. The City Council  meeting agendas and all other Board meetings agendas are posted on the City's website and on the Public Notice Board in front of City Hall prior to each meeting.
 
For those citizens interested in serving on a board, please complete the Application for Leander Boards and submit it to this office.
 
Liquor Permits
The City Secretary issues liquor permits for any business selling any alcoholic beverages within the city limits.  If you hold a Liquor License from the Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission (TABC), you must obtain a permit from the City.  Per City of Leander Ordinance, you are required to pay an annual City Liquor License Permit Fee in an amount equal to one-half (1/2) of the state fee in addition to a $1.00 administration fee per license.  You will be asked to bring, mail or fax any current State (TABC) permits(s) you hold in order to receive a city permit.
 
Elections
The City Secretary serves as the adminstrator for all City Elections.
 
The City of Leander will be holding a General Election on May 8, 2010 for City Council Places 1, 3 and 5.  Applications for a place on the ballot will be accepted from Feb. 6, 2010 through March 8, 2010.  The City Secretary's office is open Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm.
 
 
 
 
 
Voter Registration
Voter registration cards for future elections may be obtained from this office as well as most libraries and post offices.
 
 
City Documents
The City Secretary receives and maintains all official City documents such as resolutions, contracts, agreements, and deeds. To view the City of Leander's Code of Ordinances.
